How To Steal Your Competitions Keywords

how to steal your competition keywords
Now probably sounds like a bad title for a blog post, but in all reality ranking for keywords has become a very competitive strategy being used on online today. And let’s face it we could all use a bit of help to get those rankings for our websites.

So how do you steal your competitions keywords? And we are not literally talking about stealing those keywords, all we are doing is what we consider our due diligence to see what keywords our competitors are ranking for.

We want to help you build a profitable online web business, and what we have done is simply reverse engineer the process so you can take a peak behind the scenes of your competition. Tony Robbins has a great saying don’t reinvent the wheel, simply role mode what somebody else is already doing successfully.

So let’s go through this process together. There are many online tools that you can use for free to gather your tactical data. So we are going to show you how easy it is to use Google Keyword Planner, you will need to have an adwords account. If you don’t have one you can sign up for free.

Google Keyword Planner
Login into Google Adwords head over to tools and from the drop down menu click keyword planner. We are going to be working with the “Find New Keywords” Section.

Copy your competitors url and paste this into your landing page area of the keyword tool planner, the click the blue icon “Get Ideas” You will then be presented with ad groups and keywords. Note this is the keywords recommended by google, these will be the globally monthly searches. But it gives you some pretty good insights into the type of keywords your competition are using.

Your focus is keywords and you will be given a rather large list to deal with, we have a job ahead of us to go through these.

Once you have the list of keywords from google, you are given the option to export the list of keywords. I would recommend exporting in an excel spread sheet and saving this to your desktop.

Here is a quick video produced on how to do this!

So the next step is time consuming but well worth the exercise. You need to filter through the keywords to find ones that have a global ranking search of between 4-8 thousand searches. These types of keywords are easy to rank for then the ones with higher search volumes.

Our aim now is to rank for our chosen keywords. Now there are several tactics that you can deploy. But we are going to focus on one. Firstly you could write a great blog post around the chosen keyword, but I must point out when you are creating your content you do not want to keyword over stuff the article. But what if we took a different take on this content that we are creating.

Now I’m sure that you have seen those blog posts which are list orientated. Now they are great at providing information, but I know when I stumble upon them I get to about point 7 and think I don’t have time to read this. I book mark it and then never get back to reading it. So how can we the list orientated blog post, mastermind it and improve it so we can get rankings in the search engines? We evolve it! By evolving the post I mean we give it more depth. It becomes a “how to guide”

So how do you evolve the traditional list post? You take each point and explain in depth and great detail how to actual do what is being listed out, and you do this for every point raised in the post article. When you do this, the post is not only perceived as being of great value it is more likely to be shared on social media and gain a lot more traffic for your site. By evolving your list blog post you are actually telling someone how to do it, this thing you are writing about.

You are also in a great position to create some awesome back linking opportunities.

Now Dean from backlinko.com explains how you take implement some this strategy even further and take your evolved content on a road show. Watch it here

This is a strategy that you can implement in your business right now, and I bet you will see some dynamic results in out ranking your competition on keywords they are ranking for.

So we have a bit of challenge, my mission is to produce such a post, publish it and then take it on a road show. Are you up for the challenge? If so let me know in the comments below and more importantly how you actually got on using this technique on how to steal your competitions keywords and rankings. Look forward to hearing from ya!
